Annie Vernon – Rowing World Champion, Olympic Silver-Medalist & Author of Mind Games
~ Event date coming soon ~
Annie Vernon is a two-time world champion, world silver medallist and Olympic silver medallist rower. She was a full-time elite athlete for eight years, in that time representing Great Britain at six World Championships and two Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012).
Since retiring she has written Mind Games: Determination, Doubt and Lucky Socks – An Insider’s Guide to the Psychology of Elite Athletes (Bloomsbury 2019), which is an exploration of how elite sports performers train their mental skills in exactly the same way that they train their physical skills.
In Mind Games Annie argues that elite sports performers are made, not born. She uses the insights gained through the book to break down the barriers around sport psychology to show that all world-class mental skills – such as confidence, competitiveness, teamwork, and coaching – can be learned.
We will be diving into all of these topics and more, looking at just how much winning medals and building businesses is a mental performance sport.
