What can founders learn from athletes when it comes to getting in the zone to perform under pressure? How important is recovery to performing at our best? Why is it bad that we forget to celebrate the wins? And what can we learn from the world’s most effective teams that inspires our teams to want to do their very best?
These questions and many more were explored with Olympian and World Champion rower Alex Partridge during our FounderFuel LIVE session with him, to understand how we can fuel ourselves and our teams better in business.
During a 14 year career in the Great British rowing team, Alex was crowned World Champion four times and stood on the Olympic medal podium in both 2008 and 2012. He is now part of scaleup Wagestream (that successfully raised a £20m Series-B during the pandemic) so has a unique perspective on the link between elite performance in sport and in business. Having joined when there was 25 in the team, he’s seen first hand the startup to scaleup journey, and what it takes to fuel a high-performing team.
